Current News Local Shriners Motorcycle Unit Announces “Ride for a Noble Cause” Benefitting Central PA Families and Shriners Hospitals for Children™ 08-02-2011 New event created to raise funds & awareness for Zembo Patient Transportation Program.Harrisburg, PA – The Zembo Shriners of Harrisburg today announced the organization’s Motorcycle Touring Unit will be hosting “Ride for a Noble Cause” leaving at 10:15 AM on Sunday, August 14 from the Zembo Shrine Event Complex located at 2801 North 3rd Street in Harrisburg.Family-friendly après ride festivities will begin at 12:30 PM at the Shrine with food and beverages available for purchase and live entertainment by SANTANA tribute band "Heavy Weather" and a special performance from the Zembo “Highlanders.” The public is invited to pre-register with a passenger for $15.00 before Monday, August 1 by emailing Stump1233@comcast.net or by calling 717-238-8107. Riders can register on the day of the event from 8:30-10:00 AM for $17.00.The new motorcycle charity ride is geared toward raising funds and awareness for the Zembo Patient Transportation Program that provides free transportation for families in Central Pennsylvania to the Shriners Hospitals for Children™ in Philadelphia. The hospital is just one of 22 Shriners hospitals in North America dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing pediatric specialty care, innovative research, and outstanding teaching programs for medical professionals. “In my 40 years as a motorcycle enthusiast, I’ve found that fellow bikers get the greatest pleasure from hitting the open road when their time in the saddle benefits a cause that is close to their heart,” said Lee Stump, ride chairman and president of the Zembo Motorcycle Touring Unit. “We expect riders from across Central Pennsylvania to embrace this new ride for its noble cause – helping local families and children in need.”For more information on riding or volunteering, please contact Event Chairman Lee Stump at Stump1233@comcast.net or call the Zembo Shrine business office at 717-238-8107.
